I'm a writer from northern Colorado who’s now in New York. My journalism and essays have appeared in New York Times Magazine, Harper’s, The Paris Review, Oxford American, Vice, Slate, Runner’s World and Running Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Review of Books, among others. My story The Water Wars of Arizona was a finalist for the National Association of Science Writers 2018 Science in Society Journalism Awards, and Longreads.com recently listed my essay about Cormac McCarthy as among the year’s best profiles. I have an MFA from Columbia University, where I work as a composition teacher and writing consultant.
